The problem with agile
Hail to the agile development teams! All problems are solved, or not? Why are some organizations are more successful in applying agile principles than others? Some organizations proclaim that agile development has brought them nowhere.
Is it solely a problem of the development team? Probably not. Does the flexible flea on the elephant changes the elephants one way direction?
Tie in your whole organization
In order to have your organization to benefit from agile you need to involve all departments: Management, Marketing, Sales, IT-, Testing- and Development department. The better all those are integrating in the agile apps development process the more successful you will be. This can turn your organization to the kind of flexible ape that jumps from tree to tree easily harvesting the fruits from the market.
One of the key strategies – Transparency and collaboration
Realistically spoken “agile together” is not always easy to achieve. Management will fear the development department will go wild and looses the focus of their schedule. One of the key strategies in having your agile process succeed in your organization is Transparency and a strong collaboration between your teams!
When Microsoft released it’s Testing Tools last year the main focus was not on delivering the best breed of testing tool that is out there but to break up the silos of testing and development and facilitate the easy and transparent exchange between tester and developer.
Build your development infrastructure carefully
Do not make quick shots when selecting various tools for Source Control, Bug tracking, Testing, Project Management.... As it is crucial that your entire organization works together, you want to make sure that the same applies on how your tools work together.
